The story;
Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) bakal menganjurkan PKNS Trail Run dan Duathlon 2018 di Bernam Jaya Hulu Selangor Julai ini.

Kategori dipertandingkan bagi PKNS Train Run lelaki dan wanita melibatkan acara larian sejauh 21 kilometer (km), 10km serta 5km.

Manakala acara Trail Duathlon kategori lelaki dan wanita melibatkan dua disiplin bermula larian 5km, berbasikal 20km disusuli sambungan larian sejauh 5km hingga ke garisan penamat.

Ketua Pegawai Operasi PKNS, Norita Mohd Sidek berkata, program berlangsung selama dua hari pada 21 Julai melibatkan acara PKNS Trail Run dan 22 Julai Trail Duathlon.

Menurutnya, beliau menyasarkan penyertaan seramai 1,000 peserta yang boleh membuat pendaftaran di laman web www.raceXasia.com sebelum 10 Julai 2018.

“PKNS telah menerima 500 penyertaan setakat ini yang menawarkan hadiah keseluruhan RM72,000 dengan wang tunai juara RM2,500 dan RM3,000 mengikut kategori dipertandingkan.

“Penyertaan terbuka kepada warganegara Malaysia berumur 18 tahun dan ke atas dengan yurun penyertaan dikenakan bagi kategori 21km ialah RM100, 10km RM60 dan 5km RM30. Sementara Trail Duathlon pula adalah RM150,” katanya dalam sidang media diadakan di ibu pejabat PKNS, kelmarin.

Katanya, penganjurannya bermatlamatkan memperkenalkan lokasi tersebut yang berpotensi  sebagai pusat aktiviti lasak.

“Disamping peluang peserta menikmati suasana kehijauan alam semulajadi dan menerapkan gaya hidup sihat melalui sukan.

“Dan juga berkongsi projek pembangunan perumahan,komersil serta institusi di bawah gerbang pembangunan utara Selangor di bawah PKNS,” katanya.

Turut hadir, Pengerusi Urusetia PKNS Trail Run dan Duathlon, Saharom Mohni dan Pengurus Acara, Mohd Azlishah Abdullah.

Azlishah dalam ucapan ringkasnya berkata, persiapan kini di fasa 80 peratus melibatkan lokasi acara, aspek keselamatan dan kemudahan.

“Penekanan prosedur kecemasan dan teknikal telah dikaji dengan kerjasama pasukan paramedik serta petugas yang memantau sepanjang trek.

“Malah laluan akses yang boleh dilalui pacuan empat roda 4x4 turut dilakukan bagi memastikan penganjuran berjalan lancar dan aspek keselamatan menjadi keutamaan kami,” katanya.

My take on the Event

General Race Comments: 

As expected from one of the best running event organizer; Equip Management who also run the earlier Buff TR and Petzl Night Run

The trail is mostly flat and very runnable and likely a speedstar heaven. 🏃

Event info pre-race/ pre-registration:

Promos were flashy which is good. Earlier queries by FB sometimes are hard to get answer. Contact person number were given

How was the registration & REPC process: 

Online, smooth and easy

Specific mandatory pre-registration/prerequisite comments:

None for TR but theres one on bike category to be able to enter the duathlon

Race site facilities:

Enough portable toilet, big water dispensery to wash post race. Good tent layout with some products sold at site. Ample parking space

Flag-off process:

All categories(21,10,5KMs) were grouped together at the starting and it was bit chaotic. 21km flagoff at 7.30+am after cleared from course marshal

Was the course well-marked, marshaled, and accurate: 

Perfect. Course were well marked but no distance marker. Fully marshaled.

Waterstation/ aid-station

Waterstation at each 3KM for 21KM. They serve sport drinks and mineral water and anana at 1 of the WS which I forgot at which WS. Aid is good

Course-Specific Comments: 

Very runnable with heat will kill you 😅😅😆

Please rate the finish line area and process: 

Great atmosphere, timer by CheckpointSpot, emcee and all, and great supporters. Finisher medal were given immediatelyafter crossing the FL then can collect the finisher tee 

How were the post-race refreshments: 

Food pack and drinks provided. No complaints

Rate the event/ finisher merchandise: 

Nice medal, nice event tshirt and finisher tee by Inov8. Simple and well designed.

Overall, how enjoyable was this event: 

Enjoyed it tremendously from pre to post event. Volunteers and organisers throughout warm and friendly. Ever helpful

The story;

Taking from the delectable singletracks of Kiara, we progress to a more scenic and run worthy trails of Canaan Valley, Serendah. Primarily as a palm oil estate, this venue offers an experience no other estate could offer. You will be running thru rivers, a lake, and lastly refreshing your tired legs at the finish line with a cold water rush of a waterfall. And did we mention the hill top view, well it’s quite a sight to behold.


For this round you will be covering an approximate distance of 14 km(TBC) with an approximate elevation of 600++ meters(TBC). Good things do come with a lot of huffing and puffing. Remember, we don’t Conquer what is easy

The event entirely was a successful imho from start to finish. There were contest before the event was officially open. It was a contest of a creating 2 creative tagline for start and finish to be put on the flagoff arch. Final winner selection was a tagline of Front - Fire in our hearts and back - Wings on our heels, The winners will get a free entry.

Even the sponsor Marmot Sports did a contest to. The contestant stand a chance to win 2 free registration slot and free marmot gaiter by taking a photo with gaiter in most creative way and tagging them to their fb page

The story;

Buff Trail Run was 1st advertised by Corezone Malaysia to be run on March, but soon officially scheduled on 15th of April and rescheduled again to 1st of July. The rescheduled was because of rumors of Malaysia General Election that will be scheduled on the same month but finally GE was on early May. A lot of other run was rescheduled too but Buff TR did their best and did offer the participants a refund should they back off from the run.

Despite all that early difficulty, The run was still 'on' and Buff take the initiative to offer the registered participants with a free Buff headwear. IMHO, overall the event was a successful. From the REPC day before the flagoff untill the last lucky draw after the event finish.
